Emma Chai

Emma Sinclair Chai was born in 2002 in the notorious little town of Sleepy Hollow, New York, which may account for her fascination with the morbid and grotesque. Growing up, she loved titles like A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

She is currently enrolled at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California as an Entertainment Design: Animation major and plans to graduate in the spring of 2024. Within animation, Emma specializes in storyboarding, working with sequential imagery to direct visual storytelling experiences shot by shot. She is proficient with the software ToonBoom Storyboard Pro and particularly enjoys action, comedy, and horror.

I specialized in the Animation track, where I studied storyboarding intensively under industry professionals, as well as became familiar with the animation pipeline as a whole. I worked on several short films from start to finish and am currently co-directing a capstone film.
